Fruit
The area of Chania is reknowned for its citrus fruits. Particularly the oranges of the Maleme area of Chania are famous. Dried figs and raisins are available all year round and fresh by the end of summer.
In spring we feast on cherries and strawberries. Summer brings us fresh grapes, apricots, peaches, nectarines and of course watermelon and melon. Buy all of these in the Municipal market, on the popular market and in selected stores.
Try them in juices, fruit salads, ice creams, spoon sweets (quince, raisins), jams, etc.
