Wild Greens

These are an essential ingredient of the Cretan diet. Stamnagathi, Vlita, Radikia, Askolymbroi, Fennel, Chives, Capers, Artichokes, Asparagus are just some of the edible greens that Cretans have in their diet.
Try them in Κalitsounia and pies, in salads and in traditional recipes such as cuttlefish with fennel.

Endemic herbs

Try a teapot (tea) with one of the well-known herbs of Crete or a combination of them: Malotira, Chamomile, Dichtamos, Sage, Marjoram. Use Cretan honey instead of sugar and combine your morning or afternoon drink with corresponding traditional flavors. Herbs are also suitable for aromatherapy. Ask the staff of San Salvatore for an appropriate aromatic essential oil to create an authentic Cretan aroma experience in your suite.
Other herbs: Mint, Lavender,  Oregano, Thyme, Rosemary, Basil, ... We find them in our garden and use them in traditional Cretan recipes: Kalitsounia stuffed with mint, Oregano in salads and meats, rosemary with baked potatoes, etc.
