Also exceptional are various white and yellow cheeses such as Anthotyro, Mizithra, Kefalotyri, Malaka, Staka and of course the traditional sheep's milk yoghurt with its signature, slightly sour, taste.

Try Anthotyro with a good cretan rusk, Mizithra on Dakos, salad or sandwich, Staka with eggs, Staka with brisket, or Staka with bread.
The traditional Cretan Kalitsouni (mini pie) with cheese often contain Malaka cheese along with Mizithra and aromatic herbs.
The Graviera with the intense taste is an excellent accompaniment with a meal or a drink and modern flavours include Graviera with thyme, truffle, etc. Find good quality Graviera at the Municipal Market, the People’s Market, in good restaurants and selected shops.
