Overview
San Salvatore Monastery hotel in the old town of Chania is a listed building protected by Unesco and the Ephorate of antiquities. It is located in the prefecture of Chania, Crete, 15 km from the International Airport of Chania.
Historically, the Monastery comprises a Chapel and a common area. Nowadays, visitors can enjoy a Byzantine and Post Byzantine Collection hosted at the original Chapel and run by the Ministry of Culture. Hotel guests are accommodated in the private, common areas of the San Salvatore Monastery. The monastery housed a Franciscan friary during the Venetian times (1205–1669) and is said to be one of the first settlements of Venetians and Franciscans in Chania (1424).
Two Maisonette suites are currently available at San Salvatore Monastery. The complex includes residencies and the atmosphere is friendly and serene. The monastic enclosure insures privacy so that everyone can relax in their private outdoor areas, while at the same time the town remains active and at hand within minutes.
The hotel operates year round since 2016.
