Nikki & Josh: Greek Raki tastes even better in this shot glasses.
Mr Laurie: Thank you for taking the time to write and mail a letter to us. Your photo of the cloister means a lot to us. Thank you both for your kindness. Greetings to all our Australian friends. Thank you for this wonderful photo Gerhard!
For those of you who haven't stayed with us yet, this photo is taken from the roof garden on the second floor. You can see the parking area and the memorial right in front of the house, Lazareta Island and Theodorou Island. Further out is the Ravdoucha peninsula in Kissamos district. Everyone who has been here knows how much I love flowers. Garbiela and her husband brought these beautiful flowers for me and my mother and I put them in my favourite corners of the house and garden.
Hello everyone.
It's two days before Christmas, the renovation is finished and the apartment is finally ready. I would like to thank everyone for their patience and kind remarks. Having a bathroom inside our loft was a dream that took many years to come through. As already stated, listed buildings have certain limitations which are not easy to overcome. With respect to these limitations our architects Nikos and Antonis designed a fully functional bathroom with shower, redesigned the kitchen and fitted completely new kitchen cabinets. The main idea was to be able to enjoy the view over the harbour from every point in the loft, even from the bathroom. The design reveals the natural beauty of the original stone building, by exposing the stone itself and using traditional materials. The old bathroom is now used for storage and it will always remind us of the history of the building and the practices of the people and generations that have lived here since time immemorial. The mosaic floor around the garden is still under construction but with a lot of work and patience it will be ready before Easter. Again, many thanks to everyone who has chosen our apartments for their stay. I wish you all merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful and prosperous 2017. Kind Regards, Irene In 1913 Crete reunited with Greece after the Ottoman occupation 1669 – 1913. Today, Thursday the 1st of December we celebrated the 103th anniversary. The weather was really bad yesterday and the celebrations were kept to a minimum. The photos were taken from the loft, the Firkas fortess and the "sintrivani" square in the heart of the harbour.
