About "abea" factory and products

swHaving lived in the old town of Chania for most of my life , the "Abea" factory is part of my history.

As a child I went to the 6th primary school which is located just a few blocks from the original olive oil factory in Nea Chora.

By that time I was walking pass the factory at least 4 times a day, either to go to school or to go training at the swimming club right next to the factory.

From my house,I could see the smoke rising from the two towering chimney stacks and as I was coming closer, the smell of pomace was getting stronger.

We always had Abea soap in our house as my father insisted on supporting the local brand and its products. In the early years, the soap was made in one flavour only and I cannot say I liked it, as it had a very oily texture when wet and it made the skin very dry.

Many years ago the factory in Nea Chora was transferred to another area and only the chimney stacks are left to remind us of the olive oil production.

Needless to say that I was hesitant in trying the new, upgraded products, but their scent and design was so tempting that in the end I could not resist.

The Abea brand now has my full support as its cosmetic products have proven to be top quality. They look nice, their scent is wonderful, and they are very good for the skin. I haven't tried their olive oil, as we make our own, and I would also encourage people to buy olive oil directly from the producers, if possible.

In the end, turning to the Abea products and promoting them in our family apartments is, to me, a valuable improvement. For me as it makes me feel closer to my roots, and for our guests to enjoying the orange, lavender or honey fragrances makes them happy.

And, last but not least, the old factory grounds are now being used mainly for parking, which is something very important for this busy area and makes the Abea story a win-win situation.

E-food

It's been a long day and you are tired. Tavernas and restaurants are just 5-10 minutes away. You can either get yourself together and walk to the harbour and the city or you can order food online. Fast food isn't necessarily unhealthy. Order "gyros/souvlaki" with or without pita bread, ask them not to put fries in it and not to bake the pita bread with oil. We all do it, many years now. This is our fast food.
Nowadays more options have emerged. You can order anything from coffee to "home food". E-food is a website that makes ordering food very easy. You can even pay online! However there are still some well recommended places that don't work with e-food yet. Look for the menu on their Facebook page or their web site and call them to place your order.
Below are some of my favourites.
