A walk to the lighthouse on a Monday afternoon in November 2016. Monday the 21st of November is a local holiday as we celebrate the patron saint of Chania, Panagia Trimartyri (Virgin of the Three Martyrs). We started our day with visit to Verekinhtos Arts & Crafts Village (Βερέκυνθος) in Souda and then drove down to the old town. Very few people were in the harbour by that time and this made parking very easy. We walked across the promenade all the way up to the Sailing Club (Ι.Ο.Χ. - Ιστιοπλοϊκός Όμιλος Χανίων, Hania Sailing Club) and then decided to walk a bit further to reach the light house. This is an easy walk recommended for all visitors including young children, with an average duration of one hour, one way (gps tracking info is to follow). Hint: This is an afternoon walk (summer or winter). If you go in the morning either go very very early and have lots of water with you or be prepared to get very hot!
